Hey Everyone!  Thanks for all the support and for being readers of our work!  After a short hiatus that felt very long to me... I'm glad to announce we'll be back in 2013 with new pages and to finish up the story!

Recently my novel The Freak Table was released and it took over much of my freetime to promote and get out there to people.

Also, Jetti, who's been with the comic this last two plus years has moved on so we're switching over to a new creative team!

I'll be excited to share with you what we'll have in 2013!

If we only we had a device to take us away from this place…  A transporter?  A time machine?  A virtual reality deck?  Virtual Reality…
Looks like we are always looking for escape.
I know I constantly am.  It's why I write.

I finished writing the script for The Concrete World a couple nights ago.  For me, it was the end of an epic journey.  You see… I kind of get to cheat.  I'm as excited to see where the story will go as anyone reading it, I just get to see the ending before the audience.  Although I have an idea where things will go, and I have some choice in the matter on how to steer it this way or that, I'm as excited about the ride as anyone.

The original concept for The Concrete World came to me in the middle of night over a decade ago.  I woke up, and all these visions of the three main characters, swam though my head, along with all my frustrations over class-difference, and how hard life is for those of us not at the top.

That was one of the most important things for me when writing this story.  It was important upon its inception 10-plus years ago, and it has been important to me working on the writing (and publishing of the comic version) now.  The idea, that prosperity and technology should benefit everyone moving forward, but really, sadly, I see the future just as, if not more imbalanced than now.

And what about those people who will be struggling in the future, like so many of us struggle now?  What will be their outlet?  What will be their escape?

Discarded, virtual worlds?  Technology, that in itself shouldn't be addictive, but is because it offers the user a chance to escape from the everyday tortures of their life?

And how about the legality of technology?  Should someone be able to tell you what kind of file you can and cannot have?

These were the things that came into my head that night.  These are some of the things I still ponder today.

Working with Jetti on this project has completely brought it to life.  Current technology has brought it to life.  This storytelling and venue for the Concrete World, is as virtual as the world in the story itself…  That's a mouthful isn't it?

As I drove home the other night, pondering the last scene I had just written, I thought about the journey I was able to make with Felix, Paulie and Sera.  I was glad for it.  I'm so glad I made the effort to get out of bed that night, to wander into the other room of that small apartment and scribble out the pages of notes that came into my head.  What if I hadn't?  The world wouldn't be any different.  But MY world would be.  And I guess that's the point, that's why we tell stories, and reflect.  We have to reflect, some of us have no choice.  And I'm so glad to have met all the people, have heard all the stories, and experienced the experiences this little story has brought to me.

The writing is complete.  But the production and publishing will continue on for the next year.  That's a year of Jetti's art bringing it to life, a year of lettering, editing and uploading.  I'm so excited to be telling the story we are over the next year.  I hope it leaves some tiny little mark on all of you, as it has me.
